Anafora

I am from

I am from pans, spatulas, dish soap and vacuums
I am from rose bushes, soccer balls,
kittens that are renewed every time Casey cat has fun.
I am from where imagination was a tool and arts and crafts were party decorations.

I am from cease fire billboards and where it’s become accustom for a young girl to have a child.
I am raised from multiple substitute mommies,
I am from my Tia Chayo and my daddy.

I am from where “seeing is believing” And “you’re not the boss of me.”
I am from where the popular saying is “education is key”
and the horrific saying of “honde esta el fajo.”

I am from Gummy worms, gorditas, frijoles, tacos,
and whoopers in the summer.
I am from the Boys and Girls Club when Jaime was the Director.
I am from four different school where friends come and go.
I am from fake smiles and notebooks that wrote away all disappointments.

I am from those who have came in my path and have engraved a memory in me and still remember how things used to be before things changed, and left a part of them in me.
I am from spanglish and Mocho language,
I am my father’s daughter and always will be no matter where I am.
